The Newham Monitoring Project’s (NMP) FAIR Project provides FREE training and workshops, and aims to raise awareness around issues of race & faith hate crime - from low level harassment in the home to escalating levels of violent crime.

The FAIR project will also address:

• Any form of discrimination faced in daily life whilst accessing statutory services etc. – i.e. within housing/education/healthcare services.
• Any discrimination/misconduct/harassment issues with the Police & within the Criminal justice system - NMP delivers stop & search rights workshops to young people.

The FAIR project was developed as a response to target the under-reporting of race and faith hate crime occurring in East London and to support BAME Community groups to understand how to tackle  and refer cases from the community. The FAIR project aims to deliver this in the following 6 boroughs:

• Newham
• Redbridge
• Waltham Forest
• Hackney
• Tower Hamlets
• Barking & Dagenham.

Changes in local demographics can sometimes increase community tension and give rise to cases of harassment & discrimination. The NMP is keen to talk to any community groups in Hackney that may benefit from receiving this information and can tailor its training to suit specific needs.

The NMP also delivers Stop & Search Rights awareness training to community/youth groups as well as advice/casework & advocacy service - including a 24 hour emergency telephone helpline that can support individuals/families in a confidential & empathetic manner.
