HCLC launches Hackney Community Law Shops!

14/6/2012

On Monday June 11th 2012, Hackney Community Law Centre launched our new Community Law Shops service.

In the first instance, the  walk-in, 'pop-up' services will operate between 2pm and 5pm every Monday at Hackney Central library.  The sessions are kindly sponsored by the London Borough of Hackney and Matrix Chambers.

At the Community Law Shop sessions, Hackney residents will be able to see a qualified advisor about their housing, employment, immigration, welfare benefits and debt problems. No appointment is necessary.

Welcoming the launch of the new Community Law Shops Service, HCLC Chair Ian Rathbone said: "Staff and Board at Hackney Community Law Centre are very excited at this new development.  We have already had a 'trial run' at both Hackney Central and Dalston CLR James libraries and the service has proved very much needed with a constant stream of enquirers.  We are taking access to justice to places where people are, so they can get their legal issues dealt with by understanding legal professionals in a way which is user-friendly and local to them.  We hope we can expand the service to other locations in Hackney in due course."
