HCLC Summer Reception 2012
18/7/2012
Hackney Community Law Centre is very grateful to our Patron Lord Low of Dalston (pictured above) for hosting our 2012 Friends of HCLC summer reception at the House of Lords.
The reception saw people and organisations from all walks of life come together to celebrate the work of the Law Centre. All guests invited had a close and special connection to HCLC as either clients, staff, interns, volunteers, sister law centres, patrons, donors, Hackney residents, friends and family, journalists or community organisations.
Commenting the summer reception, HCLC Chair Ian Rathbone (pictured with Lord Low of Dalston) said: "The House of Lords reception brought together many different people from the Law Centre's past and present who all agreed on one thing - the poor and vulnerable people of Hackney need a law centre and they need legal aid. Lord Low has shown himself to be in the tradition of Hackney and I am proud that he has joined us as a Patron - we are people who fight for what is right and proper, to give access to justice to everyone in society - that's the hallmark of a democracy. For that to fail is to see democracy itself beginning to fail".
Thank you to Stephen Llewellyn from Faegre Baker Daniels and Rebecca Greenhalgh from Debevoise and Plimpton LLP (pictured above left and right, respectively) for helping make the reception possible".
Special thanks from HCLC also goes to Polly Goodwin, Parliamentary Assistant to Lord Low (pictured above right) for helping us with all of the preparation involved. HCLC would also like to thank Miranda Grell and Simon Bowen (both pictured above) of the HCLC Development Team for their hard work in putting the event together. *We are grateful to the evening's photographer Elizabeth Woodroffe of Elizabeth Woodroffe Design who can be contacted on info@ew-design.co.uk* Below is a selection of photos from the event:
