Welcome Justin!!!!!

26/6/2015

JustinWe are delighted to welcome Justin Kraut from the University of Richmond School of Law to HCLC as our 2015 US summer intern.

For the past three summers, HCLC has hosted students from the University of Richmond School of Law (as well as other American universities) over the summer.

The students have then gone on to take a summer course in law at the University of Cambridge before heading back home to the States. Justin (pictured right) was born in North Carolina.

His father was a Lieutenant Colonel in the United States Air Force and so Justin and his family moved around the country quite a lot, living in US states including North Carolina, South Carolina, Nevada, Oklahoma and Virginia.

When Justin was younger, the family also lived in Germany for four years after his father was posted there. Before becoming a law student, Justin worked in the fashion industry for Zappos.com.

Since joining HCLC as a summer intern, Justin has worked on mainly housing cases, supporting HCLC Senior Solicitor Nathaniel Mathews with eviction and homelessness matters. Justin has also assisted clients with welfare benefits problems. Justin is hoping to shadow the solicitors and barristers in court before his internship ends. However, it's not all been about work! Justin has been enjoying London and has so far taken a tour of parliament, been to see a stage production of Hitchcock's '39 Steps' at London's Criterion Theatre and is looking forward to taking a cruise on the River Thames.

Justin says his favourite thing about London is that it's a big city that is busy, vibrant and diverse in contrast to Richmond which is a lot smaller. After law school, Justin is hoping to become a corporate lawyer.

WELCOME JUSTIN!!!!!!!
