HCLC passes Lexcel audit with flying colours!

11/4/2016

HCLC team 2015 We are delighted to report that HCLC has passed our most recent formal audit with flying colours.

The audit was conducted by Lexcel England and Wales who carry out assessments for The Law Society.

This is what the auditor who carried out HCLC's assessment wrote: "The Law Centre receives funding from a variety of sources including the Legal Services Commission, Hackney Council and London Councils. However, this is against a backdrop of government funding cuts and constant threats to their sources of funding. HCLC have responded to this by showing great initiative and innovation and by working very hard, both to get as much funding as they can from their regular funders and to obtain alternative sources of funding as well.

They are a highly dynamic and resourceful Law Centre very eager to grow, develop and improve and make themselves better while using creative and innovative ideas but without losing sight of the core traditional and vocational ideals that make them so special to the people they serve and to the wider community to which they contribute so much. The evidence presented to the assessor showed even further improvement in what were already high levels of compliance and it is clear that the staff of the Law centre have continued to work hard over the last several months and have by their efforts and commitment managed to further embed the Lexcel standard into their day to day operating procedures."

Welcoming the auditor's report, HCLC manager Sean Canning said: "We're delighted to have successfully passed our reaccreditation. This is due principally to the hard work and efforts of all HCLC staff and trustees".
